Anna Soares, a junior at Placer High in California, won the Division 3 girls varsity race at the subsections of the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds at Frogtown in Angels Camp. Soares covered the 3-mile raincourse layout in 18:22.2 to help Placer take third overall with 81 points and advance to the Nov. 12 section final at the Willow Hills Course in Folsom.
