Katie Kopec, a senior, and junior Ava Kopec of Whitney High in California, finished first and third in the subsections of the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds at Frogtown in Angels Camp. Katie Kopec covered the 3-mile raincourse layout in 17:41.0 and Ava Kopec clocked 18:16.5 to help Whitney place second overall with 88 points, helping the team advance to the Nov. 12 section final at the Willow Hills course in Folsom.
